Picnic Tomorrow (Tuesday)

A note went home today with students about our 5th grade picnic! We will be spending part of our morning and lunch at the park signing yearbooks and t-shirts. Please be sure that students bring a bagged lunch with them!

And reminder - Last Day is Thursday, and it's a half-day! Dismissal will be at noon!

Graduation Tomorrow

Tomorrow, June 20th, is the day we celebrate the Fifth Grade Graduates of P.S. 154. Please have students at P.S. 130 as closely to 9:45 am as possible.  The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., and students will be dismissed with families after the 90-minute ceremony.  See you there!

Million Dollar Project Due Date and Information

Families -

We are asking that students turn in Million Dollar Projects on Wednesday, June 18th (this is two days later than the original due date).  We will have a few more periods of class time to work on the projects, and the rest will need to be completed at home.  The project has been, for the most part, the only homework besides reading.

Students should be creating a Google Presentation (only if your child has computer access at home) or a Board-Based presentation (students were given boards today).  They should follow the requirements that are detailed in the packet, and they have also been asked to write a one page reflection to add to the final project (we have listed some of the questions they can write about below). We expect that partnerships will find time to meet before the due date, and that students are working on the project at home.  If you have questions, please ask now! Thanks!


As you are putting together your project, you will need to type up a one-page reflection of your work on the project. This should be attached to your board or your Google Presentation. These are some questions to guide you as you write.  You need not answer them all, but they can help inspire you as you write and reflect.

1. What did you learn that surprised you? Why did this surprise you?

2. What advice would you give to next year's students about doing the Million Dollar Project?

3.  What parts of the project did you enjoy? Why?

4. What parts of the project were challenging for you? Why?

5. What would you do differently next time? Why?

6. How was your experience working with your partner (if you had one)?

7. How will you use some of the skills you developed during the Million Dollar Project in middle school next year?

8. Would you recommend that the fifth grade teachers continue to do the Million Dollar Project with the students in the future? Why or why not?
