Family Friday!

We were so happy to host so many families at our first Family Friday of the year. We created scenes showing ways that we can be curious, caring and courageous at home. These sketches turned out to be very funny and clever, and we loved sharing the finished products in class. Thank you all for joining us.

Sharing!

Students have been taking turns sharing during our afternoon meetings. Hazel shared more of her metal object collection, Kai shared a photo of new dog, Juno, and here's Jake sharing his collection of sports cards. 

Memoir Museum

The fifth graders brought in meaningful objects to share in support of our Memoir exploration. We learned so much about each other by reading about these very special items.

3Cs Skits

5-307 created short skits to show the 3Cs of our school community: Courageousness, Curiosity and Caring.

Free Writing

Fifth grade Humanities Homework is two-four pages of writing each week, to be completed in the Free Writing section of the FW & WA notebook. 

In class, we brainstormed ideas for free writing, and students have idea lists in their notebooks, too. You can check out the rubric for free writing below.

Memoir Checklist

As we begin drafting memoirs, students will use this chart to self-assess how their memoir meets their writing goals.

Drumming Class!

5-307 had their first music class of the year with our new teacher, Mr. Hooper. Students practiced bucket drumming and will be studying Afro-Cuban drumming every Thursday!
