Biographical Feature Articles

We are currently reading biographies in the Reading Workshop, and we will begin writing Biographical Feature Articles next week.

Students have been asked to do research this weekend to learn more about the person that they will be writing about.  Here are some links to assist you:

www.biography.com
World Book Online Password and Username are both PS154K

http://www.bklynpubliclibrary.org/

Kids can go to the Articles and Databases tab on the main page (You will need your card number and your PIN)- go to the Children 12 and Under Link, and use any one of the following completely awesome sites:

*Primary Search (This is a database for articles from over 50 magazines for young people - there are lots of articles about many of our class' biography subjects)

*Student Resources in Context (Lots of Biographies of Famous People)

*Encyclopedia Brittanica (online encyclopedia)

*Grolier Online (another online encyclopedia)

Also, many biography subjects have movies or videos online that focus on their lifes stories.  The Diary of Anne Frank by the BBC is available on Netflix on Demand and it is truly a memorable version of her remarkable story.
